Debut solo album — 13 tracks, out now.
The theme is a love story: for her, I need to pop out — break into the scene, get famous, earn — so I can keep her. She keeps leaving, we keep fighting, but by the end of the record I’m the famous rapper and I get you. My favorite moment on the whole album is the transition from whatsapp녀 into the title track POP OUT! — wait for it.
It’s not all her, though:
- Dawn To Night is about a friend who tried to teach me everything — how to behave, how to succeed — as if his way were the only route, even though we’re all different. I just wanted to be myself. So I wrote about dawn and night: the hours that are mine, watching satellites in the dark sky, the full moonlight spotlighting me. I’ll be the sailor of my own life, not you.
- SAD PAD THAI is about my go-to Thai spot. It used to be the best — I dragged all my friends there swearing by it, and nobody liked it, and I refused to admit it was slipping. Then one day they served me burnt pad thai. Inedible. I drew a sad face on it with green onion, left without eating, went straight home, and made this song. It’s really sad.
